Thank you for your insights! My question is how do you build your following prior to getting on like to know properly. If I post pictures of outfits – is there another way I can link them so my followers can shop? It’s not about the commission at all, I just want to use IG and my blog as a creative outlet but don’t want to violate any unofficial IG rules by saying hey this shirt is from Madewell, but providing no link. HELP!

Or did you just start with your next posts? Also, do I have to post images with the Like to Know it overlay for them to be shopabble by screenshot?

Thanks for information, I have a question and I hope that u can answer it.
How much is a commission that u get for featuring each product in your posts?
Does it depends on a products price? or it’s just about redirecting user to a link that is for selling that item?
and should users shop that items certainly or directing them to a site is enough?

    Hi Amanda,
I just saw your post! It is so informative. I actually use Like To Know it, and think it is great. I am an Interior Designer, and have noticed there is a LTK home. How does that work exactly? Additionally, fashion or home, once you are approved, are you linked up with vendors from LTK, or do you purchase your own items?

Thank you…I just started following you in Insta!

Thanks for the reply Amanda. For interiors/home, the secret to great design is to make the clients
home unique to them. If I posted a lifestyle shot showing several home items and where to shop, that would take
away of a perspective client wanting to hire me, and the client I would be showing their items would not be happy, correct? Maybe I am missing something here. LOL..thanks again

Hi, i love your concept. I just designed my first line of linen clothing that is chic, comfortable and doesn’t need ironing. I’m wondering how I could have you wear it and feature it. All my best, Anna Marie

Thanks for all the info- how do you and other reward style bloggers constantly have new items to blog about? Do you get An affiliate discount or you just spend money on new items constantly?!

This post is so helpful! I’ve been so confused regarding RewardStyle and Like to know it, and this answered many of my questions! I applied prematurely a while back, and got denied, however, now that I’m posting consistently and growing my Instagram following I’m considering applying again, but I want to make sure everything is perfect before doing so! Looking forward to your next post on this topic!!

Like To Know It - How to use Like to know it

Like to Know It is the most amazing invention, but it has also been the topic of many debates. My readers want to know what it is, and how it works. Bloggers want to know how they can use it, or whether or not they should. I am going to clear up all the confusion and questions you have in this post.

FOR ALL MY NON-BLOGGERSLike to Know It is here to save your life, well not really, but it is definitely here to save you tons time! It is an easy way for you to shop via Instagram. Once registered, you only have to ‘like’ my photos and Like to Know It sends you an email (usually within 5 minutes) with the links to every item I am wearing!

1. Go to www.liketoknow.it and watch the tutorial video that pops up (under the sign-up button).

2. Register (takes 2 minutes, and it is completely free)

3. Come to my Instagram and ‘like’ one of my photos. Within 5 minutes you will have an email that has all of the outfit details in it!! It will have pictures of the items that, when clicked on, will send you straight to the store that I got it from to check them out!

4. If someone doesn’t have the exact item they are wearing linked, it is because the store doesn’t work with rewardStyle. You can usually check out their blog and they will have a link there to the exact item!

5. You can also shop directly from the LiketoKnow. It website itself! You can keep track of everything you have liked on Instagram under the ‘My Likes’ tab, that way you never loose the outfit! You can also shop all of your favorite blogger’s posts, but adding their Instagram handle at the end of the URL. For example, you can shop all of my posts here: www.liketoknow.it/themilleraffect.

By taking two minutes to register, you will save yourself hours of time!

HOW TO START USING LIKE TO KNOW IT FOR BLOGGERS:

Many of you have asked me how to use like to know it and how you can add these tags onto your Instagram posts. Unfortunately it isn’t that easy. You have to first be approved to RewardStyle in order to use this feature. I did have a post on how to be accepted, but was asked to remove it from the site. rewardStyle is very secretive about their selection process, and they definitely have a reason to be. Right now, they are receiving 1,000 new applications weekly, and already have over 10,000 publishers on board!

These are the tips I can provide, and I would make sure you are confident that you have covered all of this on your own blog before applying. It can take months after you apply to find out if you got in. If you get denied, you then have to wait months to apply again. Let’s get it right the first time!

-Quality photos. I plan on writing a book someday on blogging, and my first chapter will be called PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOGRAPHY. I get asked so many times how I grew so fast. Having a sister that is a professional photography definitely made my life so much easier.

I know some of you don’t have that luxury. All you need to do is find bloggers in your area and find out who they are using! Some bloggers are even great at taking photos, and are likely to give you a great price.

Photography is the #1 thing you need to invest in when you start your blog. It is the only way you will get noticed by brands, and by rewardStyle. Check out my photos as you browse my blog. Are your photos comparable? If not, work on this before you do anything else.

After my sister moved to Ft Worth, I had to fend for myself. Currently, my boyfriend takes a lot of my photos with THIS CAMERA and THIS LENS. It seriously does all the work for you. Then, I edit my own images using Lightroom.

-Consistency. rewardStyle likes to see that you are posting consistently on Instagram and your blog. They like to see 2-3 blog posts weekly and at least 7 instagram posts weekly. They now realize how HUGE the blog is worth. It is the platform that will never die. It is COMPLETELY owned by you. They definitely look at your blog when they make the decision about your applcation.

-Linkable Products. On that note. Make sure on your blog, that you are linking everything in your outfit, and telling your readers where they can purchase what you are wearing. rewardStyle loves to see that you are already knowledgeable on this front. If you are taking a photo in your bedroom mirror, make sure to also let your readers know where they can find your bedspread, or room decor.

-Navigation. Is your blog clutter free and easy to navigate? Too many ads can definitely deter rewardStyle. The easiest blogs to navigate are sometimes the best blogs out there, because your readers can easily find what they are looking for. Remove the clutter, and work on the layout of your blog before you apply. You can find tons of great blog designs on Etsy.

-Instagram Followers. Some bloggers think they need to have a certain amount of followers on Instagram in order to be accepted to rewardStyle. That isn’t true at all! This is maybe the last thing that rewardStyle will look at. They are more interested in engagement. Are your followers engaged in what you are saying? How many likes are you receiving? How many comments? They also look at engagement on your blog. Are you receiving comments there? I would recommend getting in a supportive Facebook group that you can use to grow blog and Instagram engagement by supporting one another. Here’s a great one!

If you follow all of these steps, and are sure you are ready, THEN APPLY! If you do happen to get denied, they will tell you why. Work on what they tell you and then apply a few months later, once you think you really nailed down what they told you. You can also be referred. Do you have a friend that is a blogger on rewardStyle? Have them refer you WHEN YOU ARE READY.

Just remember #1- Quality Photos. I have never seen them turn down a blogger that has a great Instagram feed with quality photos!!

FOR BLOGGERS WHO ALREADY USE LIKE TO KNOW IT

The tough part for bloggers that have this feature is figuring out when and how much to use it. The more you use it, the more money you will make. It is as simple as that. Just make sure you are ALSO giving them a reason to go to your blog. I like to say that they can head to the blog for sizing info or for promo codes! Or I will put something personal on my blog and will tell them to head there to see what is going on in my life right now.

Also, make sure you are planning your pics accordingly and making sure your LTK pictures are FEATURE-ABLE. I have been asked over and over again what the best way to get featured is. There isn’t an exact science. Use the Like to Know it hashtags when applicable: #ltksalealert #ltkunder50 #ltkswim, etc. You also cannot just link a bunch of similar items and get featured. 90% of your links need to be exact. Sometimes I am featured and my shoes aren’t linked, or the sunglasses aren’t the same, but everything else is. Look at Liketoknow. It‘s Instagram page. What is trending? What do you see a lot of? You can also contact your consultant and ask them the best ways to get featured if you haven’t been.

I hope this helps! Please leave a comment below with any questions!! <3 I will try to update this as much as I can as things change in the rewardStyle industry and application process!

xoxo A
