This is actually a brilliant idea. Another reason I think it is great is normal dresses are too short for people like us at work. People who are 5’10” or taller. Maternity dresses are longer in length so it gives us more clothing for work.

Target’s maternity undershirts are my favorite tanks of all time for added length…the perfect stretchy, fitted slip!! Awesome.

Amanda Miller wearing an olive green topshop maternity shirtdress

I am starting up a new series on my blog called Work Wear Wednesday! Every Wednesday I will be posting work outfits along with tips for success in the workplace! I have a full-time job in Finance and have been working since I was 16! I am definitely not an expert per say, but I think I have a lot of great advice for those who work full-time or for those who juggle two jobs! Today, on Work Wear Wednesday, I will just be talking about how AMAZING maternity dresses are for work- even when you aren’t pregnant!

Have you ever passed a section in a store (cough cough Target) and were drawn to a dress or top only to walk up to it and see that it is maternity? “What a bummer”, we think. What if I told you that maternity clothes are actually the best for work?! This Topshop maternity dress is probably the most comfortable work dress that I own!

Maternity dresses have elastic waists, so they are super comfortable! You don’t have to worry about skipping out on the queso for lunch, because you can stick that belly out as much as you want and the dress will still be as loose as you want. Your belly will also be HIDDEN all day! Maternity dresses, like this Topshop maternity dress, are made to be flattering on pregnant women. The knot on this shirtdress hides basically everything!

For those of you who aren’t sold on wearing a maternity dress to work, I also linked the non-maternity version of the dress (which also comes in black).

Next time you see a maternity dress you love, don’t pass it up! Try it on. You really never know how it is going to fit and how comfortable it could be! If you like this Topshop maternity dress, then make sure to check out their other maternity options here!
