What LOFT is doing with St. Jude really touches my heart, and I had to be a part of it. Today just happens to be Giving Tuesday :).
Since my older sister starting fostering young children, I tend to get extra emotional when talking about kids. If you haven’t read her story, make sure to head to THIS POST now to read!
I don’t have kids yet, so I have learned about bravery and resilience through these foster children. No matter what they have been through, they still want to be a princess for a day, cuddle with you when they wake from a nap, and love you after knowing you for ten minutes.
I recently met my sister’s newest kids, ages 2 and 4, and they sat in my lap within five minutes. They just want to be loved.
Most of the kids my sister receives have medical needs, some of them even severe :(. Two kids she had last year tested positive for methamphetamine. There are many unfathomable things we have encountered since my sister started two years ago.
Foster children aren’t the only ones who have needs. Children are innocent, and they have no control over what happens to them.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a voice for these kids. Their sole purpose is to treat young kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. They are working around the clock for these kids, researching to find a cure for these diseases.
Families NEVER receive a bill from St. Jude. The family of these children don’t have to pay for housing, treatment, travel, OR food. It brings tears to my eyes typing that because it is just so amazing. These are the last things the families of these children need to worry about.
LOFT is so much more than just a retail destination. They talk about random acts of kindness, have giving back campaigns where they ask people to bring in their old clothes to the store (LOFT will ship the clothes to Goodwill for you), and provide donate links for St. Jude throughout their website. I was even asked if I would like to donate when I was checking out in store!
It just makes me love shopping at LOFT even more!
