I want to try the Kiehls cleanser. Unfortunately Clinique makes my skin breakout. Even their acne solutions line gave me more acne. I used to love their moisturizer but kept breaking out. As soon as I stopped using their products my skin was clear. Weird eh ? I do have extremely sensitive skin and it’s uber fair so it’s noticeable when it breaks out or gets red. My new fave beauty products are from Glossier. Their milk Kelly cleanser and their lip salve is the best for the fall & winter months. And the best moisturizer is from The Ordinary – hyalauronic acid + b5 serum. It’s under $8 and seriously the best skin care I’ve ever used. Everyone of their products blows my mind. Especially the price but they use quality ingredients too. It’s hard to even get it since they sell out so fast. I hope you try it out for yourself.

Protect Your Skin

When I was younger I would have never read a post with this kind of title.

I am definitely paying for that now. They always told me, ‘Protect your skin. It will matter when you get older.” But I had great skin, little to no pimples ever, and the words always bounced right off.

So, you have probably already heard it as well time and time again. But, here is the truth: You have GOT to take care of your skin!

Ok, there was my rant. It wasn’t that bad, right?

What Causes Dry Skin in the Fall/Winter

In the Fall/Winter months, we tend to notice a traumatic change in our skin. For example, I am having to put chapstick on every 5 minutes because of how dry my lips are right now.

Fun Fact: When it gets cold and dry outside, the water in your skin actually evaporates. Almost like the air is dry so it is sucking the water from your skin. Weird, I know… but true. This is why your skin dries up and your lips get all flaky.

Over the years I have been able to beat the cold air (muahaha) because I picked up the perfect moisturizing skin regime! Now I get to share it with you guys!

Here are 4 Steps to Moisturized Skin This Season:

1. Wash your face every morning and night with Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser. Why Kiehls specifically? Their face wash cleans the skin and removes makeup WITHOUT over-drying or stripping skin of it’s natural oils. This.is.so.important. You neeeeeeeed those oils guys. Your natural oils protect your skin from completely drying out and you wouldn’t believe how many face washes strip those oils from your skin! I have been uses this Kiehls cleanser for over three years now and loooove it! I use my Clinique Sonic System Brush to apply the face wash so I can really clean my face, but Clarasonic and other electronic cleaning brushes work as well!

2. Moisturize, Moisturize and then Moisturize some more. And don’t JUST moisturize. Get the BEST moisturizer out there, like Clinique’s ‘Moisture Surge’ Extended Thirst Relief. I always have to contain myself because I want to literally put this stuff on all over my body. It makes your skin feel like SILK. This stuff is going to act as a barrier and keep that water in during the cold months ahead.

3. And then moisturize some more. Haha but really. Did you get the memo yet? After steps one and three, I then apply a moisturizing primer to my face. A few years ago when I 1. realized I needed to start protecting my skin and 2. realized a primer made my makeup last longer (go figure) I started researching the best primers. Hands down, almost every site I searched, I came up with this Lancome ‘La Base Pro’ Perfecting Makeup Primer. Besides the satin-soft finish it boasts, this primer features an innovative technology that actually diffuses light to visibly reduce imperfections. Way over my head but all I know is that it WORKS and it makes my face feel amazing.

4. Tinted Moisturizer for Step 4. I use Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. It is the ONLY thing I have found that doesn’t make my face break out. I hardly ever get pimples do this light moisturizer works perfectly for me! If you need a heavier foundation, just make sure it also has SPF in it! The sun is still out in the Fall/Winter guys and you STILL need to protect your skin from it. Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer has SPF 20 in it (yesssss)! You will be able to read and see more of this product in my next beauty post this month ;)! PS, it glides on perfectly over the Lancome primer!
