Backcountry is currently having their semi-annual sale right now. This is the BEST TIME of the year to stock up on all of your activewear and outdoor needs. Remember to use code “AMANDA15” for 15% off full-priced items on your first orderat backcountry.com (exclusions apply).

Today I wanted to take you along on my favorite hike that we can easily get to from Denver while sharing some of my favorite picks from this year’s sale.

St. Mary’s Glacier

St. Mary’s Glacier is about 20 miles outside of Idaho Springs, so a little over 45 minutes from Denver. It is a .5 mile hike up to the lake (pretty rocky), but around a 1 mile hike if you want to walk all the way up to the glacier. That is just up. You will need to multiple that by 2 for the total mileage of the hike. I feel like most people can do the hike easily. Just take as many breaks as you can on your way up!

Make sure to get there early as the parking lot fills up quickly (we get there around 9am). Also, make sure to bring $5 and a pen for parking.

To get the directions, download the AllTrails App and just click ‘directions’. It will take you right to it.

Hiking Necessities (Currently on Sale with Backcountry’s Semi-Annual Sale)

Top

I suggest wearing a tank in the summer and a long sleeve top once it chills a bit. Layering is always the best thing to do on hikes here in CO. You never know what the weather will be like when you get to the top.

The Basin and Range Slub Muscle Tank that I am wearing on my hike is so comfortable and is currently on sale for $22.

Sports Bra

You want something with great coverage on a hike! Especially when you are climbing up and down something rocky like St. Mary’s Glacier.

This Stoic Seamless Texture Sports Bra comes in a pack of two (hot pink and black!) It has padding and it is so comfortable.

Leggings

I like compression leggings when hiking, especially when pregnant. The North Face and Prana are two brands I always reach for when getting ready for a hike.

I am wearing the The North Face Graphic Collection 7/8 Tight here! A great option for hiking or working out.

Fleece

Fleece is great to take with you on a hike. At St. Mary’s Glacier it is especially chilly up by the lake! I love a good fleece pullover or zip up that you can easily pull on or off.

I am wearing the Patagonia Synchilla Lightweight Snap-T Fleece Pullover here, which comes in tons of different colors!

Take an ADDITIONAL 20% off Fleece, Rain, Insulation, + More from 8/16-8/18. Here are some of my picks from this select sale:

Hiking Shoes

I like wearing high top hiking shoes when hiking up something rocky or when you know you will encounter some snow during your hike. If you will be hiking on a flat trail without rocks, snow, or ice, I recommend low top hiking shoes (they aren’t usually as heavy!)

Since St. Mary’s is rocky and it has snow, I wore these Sorel Whistler Mid Boots. They are currently on sale for 60% off.

Hiking Poles

Hiking poles are a MUST when pregnant! I always recommend them if you are going to be going up and down rocks or if you or your husband has a child on your back. It just helps to stabilize you and protect you if you lose your footing.

These specific Kelty Cirque Trekking Poles are currently sold out, but these Kelty Origami Trekking Poles are very similar and are also on sale for 35% off. Such a great deal for under $60.

Hip Pack or Backpack

I love wearing a hip pack on short hikes or small backpack on longer hikes! Backcountry has plenty of great options for you on sale right now!

This Backcountry Mid Mountain 2L Hip Pack carries my phone, a snack, and two water canisters (usually I keep Miller’s in one and mine in the other!)

Water Canister

Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate!!! Bring water with you every single time you hike in Colorado.

These CamelBak Chute Mag .75L Bottles are currently on sale in select colors.

There are so many more things you can grab at the semi-annual sale (including hiking essentials for the man in your life!) If you want to camp overnight there are tents and hiking backpacks that are a part of the sale too.

If you like to ski, there are plenty of options for you too! Head to Backcountry.com now to grab what you need while it is on sale!
