It is kind of sad how many shows Troy and I have watched over the years on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, and Amazon Prime! I was so happy to know that many of you guys are in the same boat!
Here is a list of our favorite streaming shows to binge watch (please note that this list is HEAVY on crime thrillers- our favorite!)
Favorite Streaming Shows to Binge Watch
Troy’s Favorites:
Breaking Bad- He says this is the best show of all time. I could only get through 1 season.
The Walking Dead- He is still watching and still loving. I made it through two seasons.
Ozark- Troy really loves this show! I think it is pretty good but definitely more of a guys show to me (as is anything when drug cartels are involved haha).
Narcos- He is obsessed!
House of Cards- I just couldn’t get into it but Troy loves it.
My Favorites (for the gals):
Younger- the new version of Sex & The City! It is about a woman in her 40s that pretends to be in her 20s in order to get her dream job! It has Hillary Duff in it and some super sexy male characters!
Sex & The City- all time favorite! So great for binge watching
Friends- Another all time fav!
The Office- So great for when you need a laugh!
Parks & Recreation- So funny guys! You HAVE to watch it!!!
Mindy Project- Just as funny as the office (to me)
Scandal- drama drama drama- love it!
How to Get Away with Murder- really good and keeps you on your toes
Grey’s Anatomy- Will it ever end? I am on season 12 and adamant about finishing!
Gilmore Girls- May be the fastest I ever binged watch an entire series! Such a great, feel-good show.
Black Mirror- I watch this every now and then when I can really pay attention. Troy thinks it is too weird.
Our Favorites:
Stranger Things- Everyone should see this show! So spooky & fun!
Homeland- Still watching and still loving! Claire Danes is the best actress in this series.
Modern Family- A great show to put on at the end of the night for some laughs.
Game of Thrones- Hopefully you have seen this already! If not get on it ASAP!
Dexter- One of our absolute favorite shows! About a serial killer who only kills bad people.
Man in the High Castle- We have waited sooo long for the next season! This show shows you what the U.S. would be like if Japan and Germany had won WWII.
The Killing- A really great Netflix original crime thriller! One of the first we watched on Netflix and the reason we now love this genre so much.
The Fall- Jamie Dorman from 50 Shades of Grey is the serial killer in this series. Need I say more?
Handmaids Tale- So hauntingly good. It really makes you think this kind of thing can happen- a world where not many women can have babies so the women have to become handmaids (sole purpose is to breed.)
Luther- Luther plays a detective in this super entertaining series! It is really suspenseful and really good. Bring on more seasons PLEASE!
Broadchurch- Another amazing BBC show. A young boy’s body shows up on the beach and the detectives have to find out who the murderer is in a very small town. The ending is shocking.
The Five- Newest favorite show about a boy who goes missing at the age of 5 and his dna shows up at a crime scene 20 years later! SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
Absentia- This amazon prime original is also very good! It is about how a detective goes missing for 6 years and is finally found. When she is found she is immediately set up by the kidnapper for a string of murders! She has to find her kidnapper before the cops and FBI can find her.
Travelers- Really good and so ready for the next season to come out!

If I didn’t mention a series and it is a WELL-KNOWN series, then we have probably watched it but it didn’t make the top list (like Mad Men, Mindhunter, 7 Seconds, etc). The ones above are definitely worth watching first.
Latest Book Review
All the Light We Cannot See- I am sorry, I know tons of you loved this book. I mean, it won the Pulitzer Prize. I have just read sooooo many books about WWII and this was my LEAST FAVORITE. It literally took me months to get through this book. I just couldn’t get into it. If you love books during this period, read: In the Garden of Beasts, Lilac Girls, The Book Thief, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
The Girl Before- Another book I didn’t love. This is about a writer who gets invited to a bachelorette weekend of a girl she USED to be best friends with. She has no idea why she is invited since it has been 10 years since they have spoken. It is supposed to be a thriller but everything king of happens in one chapter. Just not that great to me.
The Bear and the Nightingale- Obsessed! Cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series. It is kind of hard to read, because it takes place in a Russian town. The book is about a special young Russian girl. She grew up listening to fairy tale stories that end up coming to life (but only she can see them!) She has to team up with the good guys to try to save her small village from the monsters. This is such a feel good book!

I felt the same way about All the Light We Cannot See but loved Lilac Girls! If you have not read Sarah’s Key and The Nightingale, add them to your list ASAP! I watched The Five after seeing your story about it one day on instagram…my husband and I loved it! We are excited to try other shows on the list we haven’t watched yet. Thanks for this blog post!
