Your jacket looks grey in your post but when you go to shop it only comes in the olive green?

It only comes in one color! Defintiely olive green! May have just been the lighting that is making it look grey!

How does a newer blogger get invited to fashion week? I feel like the first invite is hard, but when you start to build up your contacts or get on a “list” it becomes easier. Excited to see the outfits you put together 🙂

You don’t get invited to Fashion Week. You just go and then reach out to brands to see what they have going on! I have a full post about it on the blog! Just search ‘Fashion Week’! Anyone can go! xoxo Amanda

I love Kate Spade! I have more Kate Spade bags then any other designer in my closet. I adore that military jacket. It has the perfect amount of feminine touches to it.

Have fun at NYFW! Looking forward to reading all about it on your blog!

A new week, and a new set of fun blog posts! I love Mondays!

For today’s post, I have partnered with kate spade new york to talk about how I prep for Fashion Week.

Kate Spade New York x Fashion Week

Fashion Week and kate spade new york go hand in hand for me because I wear ksny every year during that week in NYC. I have also had the pleasure of attending the kate spade new york Presentation every year and will be there this September! I consider it my favorite event of the week actually!

Why? Because kate spade new york always surprises us and is never boring. I am still grinning about all of the fun designs they came up with this past year! Remember this cactus purse? Only kate spade new york can make everyone want a purse in the shape of a cactus!! I never know what I am going to see when I walk into the presentation and I always come out smiling.

I always love seeing the bright colors and fun designs, but wearing them is even better! Last year I actually wore something super feminine. It was a pink floral dress from kate spade new york that Kate Middleton actually ended up wearing a couple months later= swoon! You can see a picture of me in it here and a picture of her in it here! I actually had people send me ‘who wore it better’ gifs and that was so surreal to me!

I will be wearing this outfit during new york fashion week this year! It is so perfect for the occasion.

Military jackets are trending right now and I love the velvet trim on this one. It is made primarily of cotton but has a bit of a stretch to it as well, which makes it super comfortable. I love the ruffled hem- it makes the jacket a little more feminine.

This embroidered top adds a little something extra to the look and offers more of a girlie approach to the outfit with all of the ruffles! I have also worn this adorable top with jeans and have received so many compliments on it.

You know I love wearing clothes that can also be worn to work. I want to always make sure you get the most out of your money. That is why I paired this jacket and top with some black cigarette pants that completely polish off this look.

Lastly, I have been playing around with leopard accents a lot lately. These leopard sandals go with just about anything, and you can trade them for some pumps when it gets colder. They definitely bring a surprise pop to any outfit.

Be on the lookout for this outfit to be on the streets of NYC between September 6-12.

In the meantime, you can shop kate spade’s other new arrivals here!

How I Prep for New York Fashion Week:

  1. Book my flight and hotel-this is what I do at the very beginning, before I have any other plans. I can book through Southwest so if I need to cancel I just get it back in credit (which I will always be able to use later!) The hotel is next because if you don’t book quickly the prices will skyrocket once it starts filling up. This year I am saving some money by sharing an airbnb with some of my other favorite blogger babes in Chelsea. I will be staying with Sage, Kristen, Stephanie, Brighton, and Lauren! So excited!
  2. Reach Out- then I start reaching out to brands. I have built up a contact list based on previous years and who I have worked with before. I ask for invitations to shows and presentations, or I reach out and ask to meet up for dinner or at their store. This one on one time is the best for me. The reason I keep going to NYFW year after year! The shows are so fun at first, but eventually it is about connecting face to face with people you have only been emailing with! This helps me start to build out my schedule for the week.
  3. Lastly, I start shopping for outfits. Last year I started two months in advance to put all of my looks together. This year, I haven’t even started and it is less than two weeks away! While I am in Cabo this week I will be doing some serious shopping, and I will have to hope it all comes together once I get back!

Anyone can go to New York for Fashion Week! You don’t have to be a blogger. It is fun just being in the city during it all! If you are a blogger and want to go, just read my tips here! You can also use my search bar and search ‘Fashion Week’ to see all of the outfits I have worn for FW so far! You can also read more on how to prep for Fashion Week!
