Trip to Puerto Vallarta
Our family decided to go to Puerto Vallarta for Christmas instead of doing presents this year. We planned it really late, so this hotel was kind of our last resort. We stayed at the Melia Puerto Vallarta (which I wouldn’t suggest!) There are much nicer hotels for the same price that you could stay at in PV.
It isn’t horrible, it is just pretty old and outdated. The beds were uncomfortable and the food was pretty bland. My parents booked this one for the family because they are Melia members (a timeshare thing for Melia Resorts!) We hadn’t been to this one in 10 years or so and they haven’t really done any updates on it since.
Regardless, being on the beach is always better than just staying at home! We had a great time, it was just weird being away for Christmas.
I got a lot of ‘do you have recommendations for what to do in PV’ emails and direct messages. We left the hotel ONCE and that was for a zip-lining excursion. We did the Canopy Tours excursion and didn’t love it. It was more for kids I think.
10 years ago we did the extreme zip-line excursion and it was amazing!! I would definitely recommend doing that one if you are in PV. You take a boat, then ride donkeys up the mountain, and then zip line and rappel all the way down. You rappel d beside waterfalls and zip-line into rivers. It was incredible. We didn’t do that one again because we wanted my grandma to be able to go with us this time!
Come back to the blog Monday, I will be recapping all of my trips from 2017!
Here is a recap of all of my beach looks from Puerto Vallarta:
