Morrison, CO is the cutest town and it less than a five-minute drive from us. We love going over there! Almost everything is open (stores and restaurants) and most of the eateries have outdoor seating.

Since we just moved in a couple of weeks ago we haven’t been able to explore much, but I will be updating this post each time we visit and try something new.

There are plenty of things to do in Morrison, CO so make sure you check out the area if you are nearby. The drive from Morrison to Evergreen, CO is beautiful and well worth a trip as well!

Things to do in Morrison, CO

Where to Eat in Morrison, CO

We have been to the Morrison Inn twice and to The Cow Eatery once. As I stated above, I will add to this list each time we try something new!

Morrison Inn

Morrison Inn is a Mexican food restaurant in the middle of Morrison. I would rate the food around a 3.5 out of 5 (nothing special), but we do really love the margaritas and the atmosphere. You can sit on the rooftop and enjoy live music every single afternoon! The live music starts around 5-5:30 pm. I would suggest heading here for margs and an appetizer and then maybe going somewhere else for dinner. Right now they are offering outdoor seating only (due to COVID).

The Cow

The cow is delicious! I would rate their food at least a 4.2 out of 5. They have a very versatile menu, a large cocktail selection, and amazing desserts! Right now they are offering outdoor seating only (due to COVID). The atmosphere isn’t great, but the food is worth it!

Morrison has a cute bike path through town next to a creek that you can walk, bike, etc.

Hiking:

Red Rocks– I know many of you have visiting a concert at Red Rocks on your bucket list. Troy and I cannot wait to experience it. Red Rocks is beautiful and is located in Morrison, CO. While the concert venue is not open right now (due to COVID), you can still hike around this beautiful area to get a look at the red rocks up close.

Length 3 miles, easy-moderate hike with a 650 ft elevation gain. Beautiful views. Kid-friendly (if carrying on your back bring poles) and dog friendly. Watch out for rattlesnakes! We didn’t see any but I know they are spotted frequently.

Avoid weekends if you can, if not get there early. Take Red Rocks Trail Rd to get there (download the All Trails free app for directions to Red Rocks and Morrison Slide Trails, Morrison, CO.

Lair o’ the Bear Park– There are tons of trails in this park that you can take depending on the level and amount of time that you have. We have done the Bear Creek Trail to the Castle twice with Miller. It is super easy and runs next to a creek the entire time. I recommend bringing your kids some swim shoes so they can play around in the stream and throw rocks. It is a quick, flat, two-mile trail (one mile to the end and one mile back.) There are a lot of bikers on the trail so just be mindful of them and always make sure you check where you are walking if you try to avoid the bikes (in case of rattlesnakes).

Bears have also been spotted on this trail so keep a lookout while you walk.

The Drive to and from Morrison, CO:

We recommend taking the drive from Morrison, CO to Evergreen, CO. I will have a post on things to do in Evergreen soon as well. The drive is pretty curvy but insanely beautiful. You will pass Lair o’ the Bear Park on your way to Evergreen so you might as well stop for a quick two-mile walk before getting back into your car to head to Evergreen. It will only take you about 20-25 min to get to Evergreen from Morrison. Evergreen is nestled up higher in the mountains and has its own kind of mountain town charm.

From Evergreen, you can easily access 70 and head to Breckenridge, Vail, Copper Mountain, etc within an hour.

Shopping in Morrison, CO:

There are tons of cute boutiques in Morrison! So many! Right now they have limited store hours and most close by 4 pm.

Bandimere Speedway

If you are into drag racing you should also check out Bandimere Speedway. Bandimere Speedway, also known in the NHRA as Thunder Mountain, is a quarter-mile dragstrip located just outside Morrison, Colorado. It hosts the NHRA’s Mopar Mile-High Nationals. The facility has a seating capacity of 23,500 spectators! We can hear the cars every Thurs-Sunday from our home here in Lakewood. I am not sure what the COVID rules are right now, but the stands look pretty much empty during the races. I am sure they are only doing limited capacity spectating at the moment.

I hope this helps and I hope I can add on to this asap as we explore the area more.

Have you been to Morrison? What is your favorite part about the town so that we can check it out next?!?! Comment below, please.
