Summer is in full swing and it has been a hot one so far! We’ve been taking little road trips here and there to get out of the house and beat the heat. We just went over to Vail for a family day and it was so much fun! We did some hiking, had lunch, and just hung out together. I love summer so I’ve been enjoying every second, but sometimes I struggle with what to wear since it gets SO hot! Lately, I’ve been reaching for breezy pieces that are light and flowy, but I obviously still want them to be cute and give a flattering shape.
Of course, you know I love Free Assembly at Walmart so I just placed a big order from them! I was looking for new summer clothes and as always, I found so many good pieces. I talk about Free Assembly a lot since I’ve found the quality and style is always there but it’s so affordable. Free Assembly’s new collection is super summery and cute, it was hard to narrow down what to pick! I found a lot of light and airy pieces that I know will keep me cool this summer which is exactly what I’ve been looking to wear. I’m especially obsessed with the new striped pattern they released, but there are so many fun patterns in their newest collection which I love since this summer is all about the colors and patterns. I’m also super excited because Free Assembly is expanding in Walmart stores! Women’s and kids will be expanding to 1,000 total stores and men’s will be expanding to 750 total stores, so you have more chances to shop FA in store.
Also, if you haven’t heard, Free Assembly has a strong focus on sustainability. It is designed with the environment in mind. They are washed in low impact water and their facilities are LEED certified (just to name a couple more reasons why I love them!)
Here are a few of my favorite things I ordered from Free Assembly! I know I’m going to be reaching for these pieces all summer long.
I love all of these new pieces, but in general if you’re looking to style outfits for the heat, here are my quick tips!
1: Avoid tight and clingy clothing that will be uncomfortable if you get hot or sweat. This might seem like a no brainer, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn a tight top or pants in the heat and then immediately regretted it after being outside in the sun. Look for loose items that flow nicely on the body so you can feel confident in your look but also stay cool!
2: Look for items with light, breathable fabric. I like wearing linen or cotton since both of these fabrics are light and don’t get too hot. An all polyester look is a no if you’ll be sweating, since the fabric isn’t breathable. Also, any knit tops that are too heavy should be avoided! I have a few knit tanks and crop tops I love but they’re too thick for the summer months.
3: Pay attention to color. As we all know, darker colors absorb the heat from the sun while lighter colored fabrics reflect it. I love an all-black look just as much as the next girl, but maybe save your darker OOTDs for the evening. I’d recommend wearing lighter colored clothing during the day if you know you’ll be in the sunshine.
