Date nights for us are definitely limited now that Miller is here, but they aren’t extinct. We make it work!
Hanging out at home together after Miller goes to sleep is really nice. We cuddle on the couch and watch our favorite tv shows. But, there is just something so romantic about getting dolled up in some cute outfits from Nordstrom and spending the evening out together.
At home, we sometimes sit on the couch and watch tv and never say a word to each other. Or we are just playing on our phone next to each other. Sure, it is probably better than nothing. But, we actually talk to each other when we go out to eat. We catch up on life, we laugh, we talk about Miller, and it just feels like we reconnect all over again.
Date Nights with Nordstrom
Lately, when people ask us what gifts we want for certain occasions we will say a gift card to our favorite dinner spot. Date nights don’t have to be extravagant. You don’t have to budget for them. Get away for a slice of pizza and a soda every now and then! Just get out of the house because it encourages talking.
If we are going to a movie, play, or concert, we make sure we go and have a bite to eat first so that we have time to talk and enjoy each other’s company.
We are so lucky to have my sister down the street. Sometimes we will drop Miller off at her house and run to dinner together. We eat fast to make sure we aren’t burdening her (she already has 3 kids), but it is so worth it! Now Kaylee is over every Tuesday and Thursday so we try to get in date lunches when we are not super busy!
It is definitely hard when you have multiple kids, but if you put it on your calendar early you can MAKE sure it happens! It is so important guys!
If you are in a rut and haven’t had a real conversation in a while, you can try THESE cards! Troy and I actually used these at our own dinner table after Miller was born.
I wanted to share some cute date night outfits with you from Nordstrom to help push you to actually go on a date! Troy loves when I wear rompers and jumpsuits. I actually had no idea until recently! How did it take me four years to figure this out? He says they are just a little more fun and I totally agree!
The jumpsuit and romper above are from Nordstrom and they would both be perfect for your next date night, whether you are going to Chick-fil-A or to a fancy restaurant. Both can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Well, when you get to be empty-nesters, I’m not sure you do date nights very often. You go out to dinner or to a movie but don’t really consider it a date :/ Sometimes I do dress up a little, so it’s kinda like a date. I love your date looks – so breezy! And the denim jacket (or something) is a must since the air outside tends to be pretty warm and then the air inside is usually freezing. I wish I could find a jumpsuit that worked for me. They’re usually too short in the body (and the legs, too). Thanks for sharing these ideas.

Love your strapless jumpsuit. The backdrop in your photos is excellent for it!
Great advice for spending quality time together too – can very often be overlooked.
