Hawai’i is my favorite place in the entire world. There is something so magical about it that is impossible to explain. Some people visit Hawai’i yearly and others view it as a dream destination. I am here to tell those of you that think of it as dream that traveling to Hawai’i has never been easier.

Getting There

Personally, my family loves flying to LAX and then jumping on a Hawaiian Airlines plane to the islands. Traveling to Hawai’i is easier now because of alllll the different flight options we have. So, why Hawaiian Airlines you ask? It just feels so natural to us and we love the Hawaii experience you get as soon as you board. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly and always gets my kids excited about the flight from the very beginning. They have Hawaiʻi-inspired cabin design, complimentary beverages and Hawaiʻi-made products on board. You get to start your Hawaiin experience as soon as you step on the flight, not just when you land on the islands.

Right now, you can take advantage of these amazing perks and travel for LESS this winter with Hawaiian Airline’s. Hawaiian always have the best flight times at reasonable prices, plus they give warm sandwiches, Starlink wifi and island inspired beverage options. I am not kidding when I say Hawaiian is my favorite airlines – book your flight HERE. Winter is the only time we have ever traveled to Hawai’i because it is THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR to go there. TRUST ME!

Now that we have covered how to travel to Hawai’i, let me explain why you should take advantage of the Hawaiin Airlines amazing prices and book a flight for this winter:

Why You Should Visit Hawai’i in the Winter

I am sure any season in Hawai’i would be beautiful. But, the wintertime in Hawai’i holds a special place in our hearts. There is a reason both of our kids have OCT/early NOV birthday’s after all ;).

Let’s start with the weather. It can be pretty hot in the spring and summer in Hawai’i, with temps reaching up to 87 in August & September (and you can add about 10 degrees to the feels-like temps due to humidity). In the winter, you can find much lower temps. It always seems to be the perfect temperature outside when we are there. The perfect high temps for the beach and then a bit cooler for the sunset-on-the-patio nights.

But, the weather isn’t the reason we choose to visit Hawaii in the winter. The number one reason we ALWAYS visit Hawaii in February is for the whales. The Humpback Whale mothers flock to Hawaii’s shores in January in search of warm, shallow waters to safely have their babies. They can be born and learn the ways of the water in these shallow waters and we get to see them surface with their mamas at the end of January into March. There is nothing like sitting on the beach with a mai tai and watching whales slap their tales or even breech the waters. I will never get used to it or take it for granted.

If you want to experience this in your lifetime, now is the time! You can get amazing rates for a winter visit in Hawai’i with Hawaiian Airline’s. Book your flight asap!

The Hawaiian Islands

Now you know how to travel to Hawaii and the best time to visit. Now the biggest question is: which island should I visit? If you have time, you can take advantage of the vast Hawaiian Airlines network of flights to jump from island to island so that you can see more of Hawai’i with the time you have. If you don’t have a lot of time or would rather stay in one spot, here is my breakdown of the islands (based on personal experience):

Maui

I know the most about Maui because I have spent about 7 weeks of my life on this island. We typically live like locals and rent a car and get a vrbo near the beach. We go grocery shopping when we get there for breakfast and lunch but definitely head out for dinner every afternoon. I have found that Hawaii is my favorite island for food and shopping. There is so much to explore and we love doing the Hana Highway. It is a bit touristy though and can get a little crazy a times. If you need a guide to Maui, head to my blog post here. If you are traveling somewhere for beautiful beaches, great food and good shopping, Maui is it.

Don’t forget Moana 2 comes out this November! Moana showcases the Polynesian islands and the Hawaiian legends. Your kids will think it is so cool to be in one of the places where Moana takes place.

Kauai

This was our most recent island, and now our absolute favorite. We especially love the sleepy surfer town, Hanalei. If I could move anywhere, this is where I would land. Think super large mountains with hundreds of waterfalls.  You can also find Waimea Canyon here (a lot like the Grand Canyon but on this incredible island). So many incredible hikes and places to explore. Incredible snorkeling. If you are looking for more of an adventure or sleep kind of town vibe, Kauai is for you. Once I get that blog post done I will add it here for you.

Hawai’i

This is the biggest of the Hawaiian Islands and comes third on my list. We did an incredible helicopter ride over the lava, we swam with massive manta rays, layed out on a green sand beach, and got to see the amazing Waipi’o Valley on the island of Hawai’i.  Kona is a super cool town with tons of volcanic rock and pretty beaches. It is definitely more of a local vibe and has amazing eats and the Kona Brewery.

Oahu

I put this last since it is the most populated island of Hawai’i. I haven’t spent much time here, but definitely had fun both times I visited. The landscape on Oahu is gorgeous, the culinary experience is the best (since you have so many more options here) and it is just a much more vibrant nightlife. It is also a super fun place to check out surfing. I loved touring the pineapple plantations and of course, Pearl Harbor.

If you have been to Hawai’i, leave a comment below with you favorite island and why.

Time to Book

There is truly no time like the present to book your once in a lifetime trip to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. Disclaimer: don’t be surprised if you spend the entire time on Zillow once you are there. I promise I have almost bought a house there 100 times. It is the best place on earth.

Take advantage of the amazing prices at Hawaiian Airline’s and experience the beauty of these islands for yourself this winter. Check out the flight options HERE.

Aloha!
