The dress is beautiful! Thinking I may snag it for a date night with the husband soon…

We went through a similar rut when I started blogging, had the baby and returned to work full time. I would come home to be consumed by blog posts then crash. What helped us was getting something on the schedule every week for a date night. Even if it was cooking a meal together or getting out to be alone. when it was scheduled it was as if we couldn’t erase it and it forced us to be present! Happy New Year and best wishes in 2016!

Yes we had the same idea! I hope we can stick to it! I can only imagine how hard a full time job, blog, and kids would be! You are a superstar for sure!! Thanks so much for the advice!! Grab the dress for Valentine’s Day for sure 😉

  5. New Year's Resolutions, Part 2 | The Miller Affect

[…] Between work, travel, and jumping between houses, groceries are a waste of time and money. Instead, I have talked to some friends and we have agreed to take turns cooking at each other’s houses! This way, I can start cooking more and eating out less, AND I can keep up with my first resolution (more on that HERE). […]

    First, the dress is amazing!
Second, I totally understand where you’re coming from. Blogging (and Instagraming) takes up a LOT of time! Good for you for realizing that you need to make a change, and looking for more balance in your life. I’m just starting out in this blogging world, and I too struggle with balancing it all!
    Thanks for the great post!

Awh thanks so much Sonia! Starting out is the hardest part! If you can work on it in the beginning, then you should find a balance through the rest of your blogging career!! xoxo A

You look STUNNING! That dress is incredible. Your resolution is similar to mine — I dump all of my time and energy into my professional life and sometimes my personal life suffers. It’s hard to find balance… hoping for more this year. Have a great week babe!

Yeah, I love hearing that from a fellow blogger! I definitely think my boyfriend and friends suffer the most from it. I always think “I can go for a drink and be up til midnight writing a post, or I can just go home right after work and go to bed at a reasonable hour.” It’s horrible!! Let’s work on it together!!

red ASOS Premium Cutwork Full Midi Scuba Skater Dress

Happy New Year! I wonder where this year will take us? I feel like I have already changed my mindset so much in the past month already. I went from thinking I would blog full time this year, to now knowing I won’t be blogging full-time until 2017 (more on that later). I hope this year isn’t like the rest. I mean that I hope we don’t work hard on all of our resolutions only to have them diffuse within the first month or two. I am pretty set/proud/wishful with mine. I can’t wait to share them with you this next week or two! It helps to have accountability partners, and you guys can be mine! Even though it is only January, this red V Day dress has me thinking of February!

One of my biggest New Year’s resolutions is spending more time with my loved ones. This includes friends, family, and (of course) my boyfriend. This past year was my first full year blogging, and I might have gotten a little wrapped up in it all. I never had time for anyone and never tried to make the time. When I got home from working my 9 hour job, I went to my room, shut the door, and got on the computer. I never had time to talk on the phone, or go meet a friend for a drink. My boyfriend and I NEVER saw each other on the weekdays. I know, weird.

I can’t promise that I can change overnight. But, I do promise I will make a conscious effort to spend more time with them. With my sister fostering, I need to make sure I get out to Ft Worth more to help them when they need it and to spend more time with the kids. My little sister is about to start med school, so I need to make sure I get out to the east coast as much as I can to spend time with her and my brother-in-law. My parents are two hours away, so it shouldn’t be hard to make a trip out there every now and then.

My best friends live in Tyler and are married with kids. It used to be easy to see one another because they could also come out here every once in a while, but now I will have to make sure I can get out to Tyler to see them! Luckily, they are the kind of friends that time and space make no difference. They, like family, are constant. I do have some great friends here that I have struggled to find time for. They understood how busy I was, but I still felt guilty every time I said I couldn’t hang out. I need to get out more with them, have some more girl’s nights, and go a little crazy every once in awhile.

With my boyfriend, we just need to make sure we start seeing each other DURING the week. The weekends aren’t cutting it. It is like we are in a long distance relationship! I like to be at my apartment, and he likes to be at his. If anyone has some tips for this, let me know!

I think with resolutions, it just all starts with a thought. Most people however, don’t take action on that thought, and the resolution goes dead. Let’s all help each other this year to fulfill our resolutions! Was one of yours to spend more time with loved ones?
